What Is The Consultation About?
A review of the current regulations and cemetery processes was undertaken following representations made by our community. Specifically, concerns relating to memorabilia on graves including permitted mementoes, the management of regulation infringements, and communication of the regulations.
The review took account of the needs expressed by the community, accepted practices in other cemeteries, and the Council’s obligations as landowner. It resulted in the Draft Padstow Cemetery Regulations 2024 which the Council is now consulting on. The consultation runs until 26 February 2024. You can provide feedback via our short online survey by clicking on this link.
Why your views matter
The aim of the consultation is to give our community the opportunity to provide feedback on the proposed regulations and to discuss concerns. Any feedback received will be given due consideration and may be used in any amendments to the Draft Regulations to support the Council in meeting the needs of our community, where possible.
Other Ways To Participate
Join us at a drop-in session on Wednesday 21 February, 5pm – 7pm at Padstow Community Hub, The Lawns Car Park, Padstow. Have a cup of tea/coffee, ask questions, view information and share your thoughts.
If you cannot make the drop-in, or the drop-in date has passed, and you would like a face to face meeting with a member of our team to discuss the Draft Cemetery Regulations before the consultation closes, please contact the Town Council Offices by telephone on 01841 532296 or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange this.
After The Consultation
The consultation closes on Monday 26 February 2024. Responses will then be collated and reviewed by the Leisure, Tourism and Open Spaces Committee. It is anticipated that a final proposal will be taken to the Full Council meeting in March 2024.
