Padstow Town Council, with the approval of Cornwall Council, has decided to produce an NDP for the Civil Parish of Padstow. It will cover the period 2010 to 2030. It has appointed a to deliver a draft NDP for eventual consideration in a referendum of the electorate within the Parish. The Steering Group is assisted in the development by a working group drawn from local residents. It is currently expected that, following a period of community engagement and review, a draft NDP will be available to put to the electorate in mid-2018. A copy of the current draft project plan can be viewed here.
A projected cost of circa £20,000 is expected. This will cover the costs associated in gathering the evidence needed to complete the plan and the cost of some experts in helping to produce the plan. Padstow Town Council has so far allocated a budget of £10,000 to developing a Neighbourhood Development Plan and is the process of applying for Locality Grant Funding.
A Neighbourhood Development Plan allows local residents not only to have their say but actually shape the future development of Padstow and Trevone. This means community involvement and commitment is essential. A conservative estimate of the time between starting this project and the earliest it will finish is 2 years. That said, this is for the entire community and not just those who are rich in time so if all you can offer is occasional assistance or questionnaire completion you are still a valuable contributor. An NDP must reflect the interest and opinions of the majority of residents.
Padstow Town Council, particularly the NDP Steering Group, hopes that members of the Padstow Parish community will assist in development of the draft NDP. To find out more about the process, please contact us at: firstname.lastname@example.org
