17 February 2023: Works to begin!
The Town Council are excited to announce that work on the Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) will begin this month.  The expected start date is Monday 27 February. It’s a big project, so current expectations are that it will be completed by mid-late April. As with all outdoor projects though, this will be weather dependant and all fingers here at the Town Council are firmly crossed for some fair Spring weather!
The project arose from a desire to make much needed improvements to the underused tennis court and following input from our community, the project was expanded to provide a more versatile facility that we hope will become a much-valued recreational area for the town. The MUGA will provide a space for tennis, basketball and football and there will be new fencing around the site as well as an additional storage area for the play equipment.
Still to be decided is how best to manage the MUGA so that our community gets the most out of this facility, this could be turn up and play or an online booking system. This is something that will be considered by the Town Council via its Leisure, Tourism and Opens Spaces Committee who will explore all options.
You will no doubt start seeing activity on site as works begin but we’ll also be posting updates about progress on the Town Council website and Facebook. We hope that you are as excited as the Town Council that this project is finally being realised and that your fingers are also crossed for good weather too!🤞
