GWR have advised the Town Council of the following disruptions to their services week commencing 1 April 2024:
“Industrial action by ASLEF, the train drivers’ union, will affect services this week including a strike on Saturday 6 April.
On Saturday, a much reduced timetable will be in operation, with the majority of our network having no service whatsoever. Where we able to run trains they will start later and finish much earlier than usual.
Network Rail will also be carrying out emergency engineering work at London Paddington on Saturday (6 April) which means there will be no GWR services whatsoever between London Paddington and Reading. Elizabeth Line services will continue to operate as normal.
In addition, there could be further disruption from Thursday 4 to Saturday 6 and from Monday 8 to Tuesday 9 April due to industrial action short of a strike, which means we will have no spare drivers available. While we plan to run a full timetable, this is likely to cause some short-notice alterations and cancellations, especially at weekends or late at night. Our Night Riviera sleeper service is also cancelled from today, Wednesday 3 April, to Tuesday 9 April.
More information on the above, including where we are planning to run services on Saturday 6 April, is available at www.gwr.com/strike. “
