Halloween Advice

A Halloween advice message from Devon and Cornwall Police:

We want your Halloween to be full of treats, not tricks. Here are some tips for making sure you celebrate in a fun and safe way:

  • Young children should always be accompanied by an adult when trick-or-treating.
  • Not everyone celebrates Halloween – only visit houses of people you know and those who are open to having trick-or-treaters.
  • If you’re wearing a mask make sure you can see where you are going and are aware of your surroundings, especially when crossing the road.
  • Consider bringing a torch with you and wearing something that is going to make you highly visible – Halloween is a great opportunity to try out glow in the dark face paints or clothing.

We know that not everyone celebrates Halloween and we need to be respectful of those who don’t want to be visited by trick-or-treaters. Some people, particularly those who are elderly or vulnerable, might be distressed by strangers knocking on their door during the evening.

No Trick Or Treat Poster

Print this poster and display on your home, or on the homes of your vulnerable neighbours or relatives if you or they would rather not have callers at the door.
