18.10.24 Railway Car Park Bus Stop

Oct 18, 2024 | News

The Town Council appreciates the concerns that have been shared in relation to the notice given on the railway car park bus stop.  Chairman Councillor O’Keefe reiterates the comments of Vice-Chair Councillor Dawe on 3 October saying, “as members of the community, Town Councillors only want what is best and safe for Padstow”.  Adding “the current arrangement of a registered bus stop leaves the Town Council liable for an operation it has no control over and no input into.   It is not considered a stakeholder and has no conduit through which it can raise concerns and ensure they are factored into bus route decisions.  As such the Town Council has no way to mitigate any health and safety concerns.   The removal of the registered bus stop does not remove Cornwall Council’s duty to provide a safe and inclusive service for our town.   We are disappointed that we continue to wait for a response from Cornwall Council as to how a mutually acceptable solution can be put in place in the absence of the registered bus stop.”
