GWR: Paddington and Westbury closure for engineering works – 27-29 December 2024

Dec 19, 2024 | News

GWR have provided information about some forthcoming closures:

A reminder of the changes to rail services on 27-29 December (following the usual Christmas closedown on 25 & 26 December) due to HS2 work on the new station at Old Oak Common just outside Paddington. At the same time, Network Rail will also be carrying out track maintenance designed to improve punctuality and reliability of services in the Thames Valley area.

Full details are on GWR’s dedicated page www.gwr.com/christmas and while London Paddington will be closed, South Wales and South West customers will be able to make direct London journeys via our Euston diversions; we also have other alternative routes available including from Ealing Broadway and Reading.

GWR have also advised of works taking place at Westbury station from Friday 27 December until Thursday 23 January. This will affect all train services via Westbury, with repairs to a viaduct also affecting services between Warminster and Salisbury. More information is available on GWR’s dedicated webpages at www.gwr.com/wessex and www.networkrail.co.uk/westbury.
