GWR Update 9.3.26: Looe Branch Line

Mar 9, 2026 | News

GWR have provided an update with regard to the recent closure of the Looe Branch Line:

“We’re pleased to say that the Looe branch line has reopened this morning after being closed due to flooding and engineering work.

As you’ll know, heavy rainfall in December along with high tides, caused water levels around several bridges on the branch line to rise beyond safe operating limits. This led to damage to a number of bridges, making it unsafe for trains to run and kept the line closed until our scheduled engineering work this week.

You can hear more about our recent de-vegetation work on the Looe Line here.

Thank you to everyone for your patience during the closure as we appreciate it has been very disruptive”.
